About Me

Welcome to Dog of the Week! I’m Ada and that's me in the picture above! I was born in May of 2020 and I have seven siblings. We meet up with each other and with our mom on our birthday almost every year. I love people but I’m not a huge fan of playing with other dogs. I think they’re interesting and I’ll watch them play but I don’t like it when the dogs pay attention to me. I also don’t like it when people pay attention to other dogs, I love all the attention! I don’t mind it when my human looks at art of dogs though just as long as they’re petting me while they do it!

Hi, I’m Liz, Ada’s human! I’ve been loving dogs my whole life. Before Ada I grew up with two other dogs, Cocoa (a chocolate lab) and Ruby (a golden retriever) so I’m a big fan of all sorts of types of dogs. My lovely pup Ruby unfortunately passed away the year before I began college. I began writing a piece for the newspaper that I called “Dog of the Week” where I featured a new dog who lived on campus every week. It was one of my favorite things I did during college and I’ve always wanted to go back to that. During COVID we got Ada. A friend of a friend adopted a year-old pup and didn’t know she was pregnant! Ada’s siblings were adopted out to other families and Ada came with us! When I started grad school I had the opportunity to do an independent research project and I decided to make an archive of dog-related items in museums. The more I learned about the history of humans and dogs, the more I wanted to share it so I started this mailing list! People have been including dogs in their art for as long as they’ve been creating art so there are A LOT of dog related artifacts out there. This is not by any means a comprehensive list of dogs but I hope it’s enjoyable nonetheless!
